The spirited, romantic and beloved musical story of Maria and the von Trapp Family will once again thrill audiences with its Tony®, Grammy® and Academy Award® winning Best Score, including “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “Edelweiss” and the title song.
The Sound of Music features music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, suggested by “The Trapp Family Singers” by Maria Augusta Trapp.
“We were overwhelmed by the incredible turnout for THE WIZARD of OZ last summer,” explains Hall. “It was clear from conversations with our community that our next show needed to be something classic – something audiences of all generations could attend and share. So many around the world right now are living out their own survival stories and we feel it is important to share this beautiful story of love and survival right now.”
The Sound of Music, presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, will play at Iroquois Amphitheater July 15-19. Auditions will be held April 22-24, virtual auditions are due April 21, with rehearsals beginning in June.
ALP is committed to providing opportunities to young talent who may not otherwise have access to this training. During the audition process, if ALP leadership sees outstanding talent that would benefit from additional training, that talent will be awarded scholarships on sight to the Performing Arts Louisville summer camps. Up to 5 scholarships will be awarded for the 2022 season.
