This class will cover helpful information specifically for commercial auditions. Learn the tips and tricks that can get you noticed time and time, again, as well as the mistakes actors make that keep them from getting hired. Helpful hints on self-recorded auditions and the do’s and dont’s for in person or video streaming callbacks! Class will include techniques and expectations for commercial work, and Kim will also discuss audition experiences working on past projects.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Kim Swanson has 24 years of experience as a full-time Casting Director, including, but not limited to casting more than 500 commercials (Anheuser Busch, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, Mercedes, Ralston Purina, Alamo, Build-A-Bear, Cepia, Edward Jones, Enterprise Leasing, H&R Block, Merrill Lynch, Monsanto, Trendmasters, and many others), multiple episodic shows (A&E, LMN, Disney, Warner Brothers, Nickelodeon, Fox TV, NBC, PBS, A&E, The Food Network, BYU, Discovery Channel, History Channel, VH1, Sci-Fi Channel, Showtime, and more) and she has cast for award winning feature films and international projects.
Kim is currently nominated for an Artios Award, and her projects have won Emmy’s, Telly’s, and a letter of commendation from President Obama for national PSA’s. She was the first Casting Director in the State of Missouri to be accepted into membership by The Casting Society of America and was also the first Regional Casting Director to be elected to the National Board of Directors of CSA. She was also instrumental in creating the Regional Casting Committee and the Artios Award for Reality Casting. She has been an honored guest speaker for Film Festivals in the U.S. as well as in Europe, has also been a regular guest instructor for the SAG Foundation in Los Angeles, and a contributing writer for ShowFax. Prior to working as a Casting Director, Kim was a professional dancer, actress and model.
