In-Person Summer Performing Arts Intensives

Updated: Sep 13, 2020

Actors Center for Training and Dancers Center for training will host week-long modified summer intensives in three groups. All intensives are full-days only for $350 per student plus tax*.

Elementary Students Grades 3-5

June 15-19, 2020

Middle School Students Grades 6-8 July 13 - 17, 2020

High School and College July 20-24, 2020

Our summer classes will be very small in number, adhere to all CDC safety precautions, and will help your young performer become a stronger, better performer compared to a virtual class. From material selection to performance, we will make this one of the best learning experiences despite the challenges of our changing world.

Placement screening

We start with a placement interview and screening via ZOOM. This screening is to help identify where you are developmentally and for us to select audition pieces for you BEFORE you arrive! Please prepare:

  1. A 1:00 to 1:30 contemporary monologue from a play, or a clipping from a young adult novel. Look for 1 Act plays or 10-minute plays. Make sure your piece is age-appropriate. Show us your range!

  2. 16 bars of an upbeat tempo contemporary musical or pop song. Please no tracks. Please have a piano accompaniment.

  3. We want to see you move-- 30 seconds to 1:00 of dancing- freestyle to an upbeat tempo song. If you are a dancer-- show us your strengths and what you can do. We do not need a choreographed piece. We want to see how you move naturally. If you are a mover vs a dancer, show us how you move to the music.

About the intensive

Many camps are an opportunity to discover the arts. We start with passion, hard work, and the desire to improve. This intensive is for young performers who have already discovered their love for performing and want to take it to the next level.

The week will help young performers grow in the disciplines of singing, acting, and dancing. We will prepare students for the following:

  • Dance calls (even if dancing is not your strong suit)

  • Analyze and build your vocal book

  • Acting essentials

  • How the industry works (local vs national)

  • Headshots, resumes, and demos

  • Monologues (classical and contemporary)

  • Cold-reads and scene work

  • Opportunity and importance of being a versatile actor.

The week culminates in a performance opportunity to be determined based on current CDC Guidelines.

Once you register for the intensive we will confirm with an email with the requirements for the screening, camp information, and performance.

*No cancelations or refunds.
